PGLA Suture
TECHNICAL DATA
PGLA is a synthetic absorbable , braided, coated suture composed of a copolymer made from 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide and is available bothdyed and un-dyed. When dyed, only FDA-approved color additives such as D&C Violet No. 2 are used. The un-dyed suture is milk white (beige) in color. PGLA meets all the requirements established by theUnited States Pharmacopoeia (USP) and the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) for Synthetic Absorbable Surgical Sutures.(except for an occasional slight oversize in some gauges)

Synthetic Absorbable Surgical Suture
Absorbable surgical suture PGLA has revolutionized the field of surgical wound closure, offering numerous benefits to surgeons and patients alike. In this article, we delve into the unique advantages and applications of PGLA sutures, shedding light on their unparalleled properties.
Biodegradability:
PGLA sutures are composed of a copolymer of glycolide and L-lactide, rendering them fully biodegradable. This exceptional property eliminates the need for suture removal, as the sutures are naturally absorbed by the body. The biodegradability of PGLA sutures ensures a hassle-free recovery for patients while minimizing the risk of late-stage complications.
Strength and Versatility:
Despite their absorbable nature, PGLA sutures exhibit impressive strength and stability. This inherent strength enables secure wound closure during the crucial healing phase, reducing the chances of wound dehiscence or post-operative complications. The versatility of PGLA sutures allows their utilization across a wide range of surgical specialties, ensuring optimal outcomes across diverse procedures.
Minimal Tissue Reactivity:
PGLA sutures are well-known for their minimal tissue reactivity. This attribute makes them highly biocompatible, reducing the risk of adverse tissue reactions or inflammation. The use of PGLA sutures promotes a more comfortable recovery experience for patients by minimizing discomfort and post-operative irritation.
Promotes Optimal Wound Healing:
PGLA sutures actively contribute to optimal wound healing by facilitating a controlled healing process. These sutures support tissue apposition, decreasing the risk of wound complications and allowing for efficient healing. The gradual degradation of PGLA sutures coincides with the natural tissue regeneration process, assisting in the formation of robust and aesthetically pleasing scars.
Wide Range of Applications:
Absorbable surgical suture PGLA finds applications in various surgical specialties, including general surgery, orthopedics, and dermatology. Its versatility allows for its use in a diverse assortment of procedures, from deep tissue closure to superficial skin repair. Surgeons value PGLA sutures for their reliability, ease of use, and ability to adapt to specific surgical requirements.
In conclusion, absorbable surgical suture PGLA represents a significant breakthrough in surgical wound closure. Its impressive biodegradability, strength, and versatility make it an unparalleled choice for surgeons seeking optimal patient outcomes. By incorporating PGLA sutures into their practices, healthcare professionals can promote efficient wound healing, reduce complications, and enhance patient satisfaction.
